Learn about the soil food web and syntropic agriculture practices to increase your yealds and to help the climate

A 3-day workshop with Phillip Barton, Minds of Soil (EN), soil food web expert

Fri 13.12. – Sun 15.12.2024

Farma Částkov + Czech university of life sciences, Prague

Translation into czech

Our lives depend on healthy soils!

However, our conventional agricultural practices are destroying the soil more quickly than it can be generated.

So it is more than urgent to understand how this mysterious and fascinating web of soil life works and which practices should we apply to keep it alive and healthy for us and for the future generations.

Join the very first workshop in Czech republic where a soil specialist and agroecological farmer in one person will show you how to analize the vitality of your soil and will let you to practice how to establish a biocomplete compost so that your soil community was in a good equilibrium.

This workshop will bring many useful and practical tools for anyone who wants to grow good soil to grow good crops no matter the size of your plots or fields.

Or for anyone who is just amazed by this huge living universe under our feet and wants to dive deeper to understand how to take care for it.

In this intensive 3-day workshop you will learn:

  • why the soil microorganisms are so important for us and what is their role in the soil ecosystem
  • how to identify the basic soil microorganisms with a microscope
  • how the ratio between the different microorganisms tells us about the state and potential of our soil
  • how to make a biocomplete compost to change this ratio in order to accelerate the soil evolution and it´s regeneration
  • how to achieve better yealds and the climate change mitigation through healthy soils and good agricultural practices (combination of the Soil food web and syntropic agriculture practices)

Meet the lector: Phillip Barton, England

Phillip Barton studied and practiced:

  • Permaculture Design
  • Agroforestry
  • Soil Microbiology
  • Agroecology
  • Soil Food Web School (SFW)
  • Syntropic agriculture

Phillip made a soil analysis and biocomplete compost for CEPEAS (Syntropic agriculture research institute), directed by Fernando Rebello. For a great success he was recommanded to Ernst Götsch, the founder of syntropic agriculture.

The data collection that Phillip did at Ernst´s farm showed up that with syntropic agriculture practices, purely through natural processes and with zero external inputs we can achieve even more fertile and active soils then in the primary forests without the human interference.

This means that humans really have a very efficient tools to shift from the destructors to co-creators of healthy ecosystems.

Combination with the practices from the Soil food web school is very promising in order to make the soil regeneration even faster. And Phillip represents the very important bridge between these two key restorative agricultural practices.

Phillip´s wish is to „redesign our role in the ecosystem“.

That´s why in 2023 he created his soil consultation company Minds of soil:

„At Minds Of Soil, we deeply respect the intelligence of nature and recognize the integral role humans play in the ecosystem. Our solutions are inspired by the intricate patterns forged over 3.8 billion years of co-evolution. By leveraging these natural principles, we empower landscapes to ascend to higher successional stages, enhancing both the quantity and quality of life that the system can support.„

Meet the place: Farma Částkov

Farma Částkov is a symbol of the place where the soil health matters more to it´s farmer than the maximization of the production. It´s founder, Simona Hrochová, is an example of a conscious and sensitive farmer who puts a big stress on soil improvement techniques and demonstrates that this is the only way how we can deal with the environmental challenges as farmers and growers.
